WHAT MOTIVATES YOU?
INTRINSIC OR EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION?
Welcome to Motivational Monday! Have you ever noticed if you are motivated to reach your goals by intrinsic or extrinsic factors? For example, a person who is intrinsically motivated by what they do is doing it for complete enjoyment and satisfaction. They are able to do it with ease and grace. In fact, one person may even call this passion.
It is like doing something you love and it makes your adrenaline flow faster; you always are looking forward to what comes next like clock work. In fact, even when you bump into stumbling blocks you just allow those things that seem to block you at the time to become stepping stones; then you allow the stepping stones lead you to doorways of opportunities. Once you decide to open the doorway of opportunity THEN you then you realize you have stepped into a land of ABUNDANCE. Intrinsic motivation is purely internal satisfaction.
But if you are moved by Extrinsic factors you may be doing things to earn something or someone's approval? For example, if you are on the soccer or football team because you want to gain a trophy, popularity. Another example is if you go into a certain field of work merely because of the salary. Believe me! I have nothing against making TONS of money. But what is the thrill behind doing something the majority of your time that you hate? When I was a secretary I can not even count the amount of jobs I quit or the amount of times I regretted when Monday morning came all because I really didn't want to perform that type of work. But once I found something I was passionate doing I never had to make the statement again. I merely enjoy what I do and find great satisfaction in my work.
Well so much for my story, what is your story? Have you ever had a job that you were not motivated to go to everyday merely because it was not your passion? Be sure and send me your reply and let's discuss how to discover your passion next time.
